Donè Martin is a prolific storyteller, author and poet from Hillside, Port Elizabeth. She owes a lot of her success to her mother, Gloria, who cultivated her imaginative side from a young age, her husband and beautiful daughters for their constant love, support and source of inspiration and her publisher, Haroldene Tshienda.

Donè’s love for reading and storytelling is reflected in her imaginative writing style, her alluring characters and unique talent of witty content and relatable stories that speaks to a broad audience. Her books deemed by many as a ‘page-turner, a tear-jerker, problem in the household!, etc,etc ” This can believed to be true as her first book bagged two awards for Best Novel 2024 ( Eastern Cape Literary Awards) and Best Novelette 2025 ( Cape Flats Literary Awards) and has been nominated again this year, with Donè representing Port Elizabeth, South Africa at the 6th Annual Mulher Forte African Literature Awards in Botswana! She has many personal and professional influences that helped her become the talented author she is today.

She remains grounded in faith, humble to her fellow man and grateful for she has achieved.
